Preserving What Matters

Efforts are underway to eliminate the accumulation of litter and debris on Shannon Road behind our community. I recently met with Jefferson County Commission President Jimmie Stephens and shared the many frustrations over the short-term effects of previous cleanup efforts. He was quite responsive to our concerns and has approved the addition of anti-litter signage in the area. We both agree it’s a first step, and remediation may require assistance from other sources, including but not limited to Alabama Power as a source of lighting and the Sheriff’s Department for anti-litter enforcement. We have Commissioner Stephens’ support, and we’ll continue to work together to evaluate the effectiveness of early efforts. What we know is we must try different and continued approaches to find long term solutions.
